Justin Lucas is having one of those “pinch me” tournaments so far at the Potomac River, as in pinch me because I never expected things to play out like they have so far.
Things continue to line up in near-perfect succession for the Alabama pro, who had another stellar day of fishing not all that far from Washington, D.C.
Lucas was the only competitor to break the 20-pound mark on Thursday and he nearly did it again today with a day-best 19-14 stringer that has him almost 6 pounds clear of his closest challenger (he had a lead of 2-07 after day 1).

Lucas caught five bass that weighed 20 pounds, 4 ounces, off “one special place” to take the lead in the Bassmaster Elite at Potomac River presented by Econo Lodge. California angler Brent Ehrler is second with 17-13, and Washington pro Luke Clausen is third with 17- 9. Read More >

Justin Lucas left the door open today for one or more of his closest challengers to close the gap on him at the Potomac River Bassmaster Elite Series.
His 12-15 limit was his smallest of the tournament (by nearly 7 pounds) and he figured someone was going to take advantage. When the dust settled and he realized the 5-14 lead he held after day 2 would still be intact entering the final day, he was stunned.
